Alice H. Mercik
Alice H. (Wadas) Mercik, 91, of Shrewsbury, died September 9, 2016 at UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester after a brief illness. She was born in Bondsville, MA daughter of the late Apolonia (Bak) and Martin Wadas. She graduated from Palmer High School and Worcester Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1948. She leaves her husband of 66 years Chester J. Mercik, a son James Mercik and his wife Susan Reid of Hartford, CT, and daughter Ann Sieben and her husband David of Niantic, CT. She also leaves three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Anne Hudak and four brothers; William, Stanley, Louis and Edward Wadas. Alice loved spending time with her family and excelled at baking, rug braiding, quilting and numerous other arts and crafts. Funeral services and burial will be private at her family's convenience.
