Obituary for Ernest F. Stoll
It is with broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Ernest “Ernie” Stoll, a beloved member
of our community, who left us much too soon at the age of 49. Ernie unexpectedly passed away on
Tuesday, December 5, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, compassion, and unyielding
loyalty.
Born on January 18, 1974, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Ernie brought light to the lives of all who knew
him. He lived all of his life in Worcester, Massachusetts, and was a proud resident of the city.
Ernie is predeceased by his parents James and Patricia, and his granddaughter Aubree. He is survived by
his beautiful daughter, Jasmine, her partner James, and his grandchildren Ian and Weston; his beautiful
daughters Skylar and Kalli and his handsome son Billy; his beloved partner, Denise Donnelly; his brother,
Timothy, his nephew, Cody, and his niece, Hailey; his brother, Stephen; and innumerable friends and
extended family with whom their existence will forever be imbued.
An avid people person, Ernie spent the majority of his life in the service industry. He loved to cook, to
serve others, and most of his closest friends stemmed from his time working with and for others in
hospitality. Still, Ernie’s true passion in life was being a grandfather to his two handsome grandchildren.
From haircuts to superheroes, watching them grow was one his life’s purest joys. In his free time, Ernie
was a devoted fan of the Boston Celtics. If being a season ticket holder was not enough, Ernie could
always be found wearing a fitted Celtics hat—and probably shorts, even if it was 10 degrees outside. Ernie
was also a staunch believer in the power and good of humanity. He believed deeply in holding each other
accountable, and that with just a little more empathy, this world may be able to work through what
ultimately divides us. He was always your first phone call, whether you were in a pinch or if you just
needed a sounding board. He also had an unprecedented way of making you smile, whether it was during
his halfhearted run (walk) to first base during a softball game or listening to one of the wild stories he told
about his adventurous youth. Most importantly, Ernie had the innate ability to make you feel like you
were capable of anything. His friendship made you feel special and confident that you would continue to
grow as a person. Because of this, a world without Ernie leaves a void in what we all hope is a long life.
As a father, as a friend, and as family, there will never be a worthy replacement.
In this time of sorrow, we ask that you remember Ernie as the man that you laughed with, cried with,
learned from, and admired. We ask that you share your favorite memories of him and let others experience
the charisma and magnetism of his personality. We ask that you share how he was the strongest person
you have ever known, walking through life with such benevolence. We ask that you remember how your
eyes light up when you speak of him because of the color and vitality that he brought to your lives. And
then, we ask you to take him with you wherever you go, because from him we learned how to be brave.
Per Ernie’s request, a celebration of life gathering will take place Thursday, December 14 from 5-8pm at
the Knights of Columbus, 44 Circuit Avenue N, Worcester, MA 01603. In place of flowers, we ask
anyone interested to instead please donate to assist his family with this tragedy. All additional donations
will be donated to the college funds of Ian and Weston, Ernie’s grandchildren. Donations can be made
